OUR HISTORY
Building value The High Way since 1931
Tracing its roots back to Sanford H. High’s founding of High Welding more than 90 years ago, the High family are industrial innovators. The 1940s saw High Welding pioneering welded steel bridges—replacing the common practice of riveting—as well as expanding into fabrication. In 1963, the family formed High Realty Company, its first foray into other businesses.
Over the following decades, the company expanded, founding High Associates (selling, leasing, and managing commercial, industrial, and residential real estate), High Concrete, the nonprofit High Foundation, High Hotels, Greenfield Architects, High Structural Erectors, High Environmental Health & Safety, and many more.
Members of the High Family still maintain active roles across these many companies. Several Highs also serve on the High Family Council, a group that continues to provide across-the-board leadership to the High companies, ensuring that the values and philosophy established by previous generations of the family continue to guide business.

An award-winning history
In 1989, High Hotels Ltd. opened its first hotel, the Hampton Inn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The property quickly became the highest-rated Hampton Inn in the nation and earned what was then known as the Circle of Excellence Award.
